Silver Willow School 1920 – 1954
This school district is south and east of Marwayne. It was called Silver Willow because of the vast number of these shrubs that grew there. Although they dug wells twice, they were never able to get water for the school so it was always carried from a nearby farm.
(These days if the water is shut off for a day, the school is closed.) Many happy times were spent at the school with Christmas concerts, hikes, treasure hunts, and in the winter skating parties at nearby St. Ives Lake.
An interested crowd gathered at the school site on a cool October afternoon to help with the raising of the sign and remember former good times at the school.
