Riverton 1911-1948
When the school closed, the students were bussed to Dewberry. Later the building was moved to a different site and became a community centre.
The Riverton sign was the fourth put up on August 9, 2007. By then there was a crew of people, who were taking in all five of the sign installations. For the non-locals, there were no distinguishing marks that a school at been in that field—demonstrating just how important the school marker project is in providing recognition for all of those historic sites.
At Riverton, former students plus family and friends marked the sign installation with pictures. Many of them joined our traveling road show to go to our final stop of the day at Lea Park.
