Membership

  • Regular member – A retired teacher who has been a member of the Alberta Teachers’ Association for 5 years. Fee $12 single membership
    $17 couples membership where both are teachers
  • Associate member – Spouse/partner of a regular member; any retired educator of a school board, post-secondary institution or technical institute; retired educational support staff member. Fee $12
  • Lifetime Member – Any SWARTA member who has reached the age of 85 years as of July 1 and has been a member of SWARTA for at least five (5) years.
  • Eligible Members must notify SWARTA; please provide your birthdate. No Membership Fee
  • The first year immediately following retirement is free.
  • You may choose to pay your membership for up to 5 years.
  • Email is our primary method of information delivery.
  • By submitting a registration for membership form, you are confirming consent to receive electronic communication such as texts and emails. Please contact SWARTA if you do not wish to receive information electronically.
  • The membership year is July 1 to June 30. Fees are not prorated for partial year.
  • Membership fees are minimal; therefore, SWARTA events/activities are priced at cost recovery.
  • Payment may be made by cheque and mailed to:

  • Payment can also be made personally at any SWARTA function.

Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL)

CASL prohibits organizations like the Southwestern Alberta Retired Teachers’ Association (SWARTA) from contacting members electronically without their consent. By applying for membership, you are granting SWARTA elected executive members permission to communicate with you electronically via email/text as it relates to events, activities or notifications. If you wish to unsubscribe from receiving electronic messages from SWARTA, you may send your request by return email. In addition, you are granting SWARTA executive to occasionally contact you by phone. All personal information collected by SWARTA is used solely for Branch communication.

SWARTA members enjoy one another’s company and we love to celebrate these events with pictures. Photos are taken at most of the events, gatherings and meetings. Please grant SWARTA the authority to use your image, in whole or in part, individually or in conjunction with other individuals. These images may be displayed on the Southwestern Alberta Retired Teachers’ Association website, or occasionally in printed promotional material.
