June 2026 WCRTA Communication
Reminder to save Monday, August 24, 2026 on your calendars for the Welcome to Retirement / To Hell With The Bell Brunch. Further details and RSVP information will be sent at the end of July. In addition to our usual memorial time, short AGM, and welcome to new retirees, we will have Laurie Bauer from ARTA’s insurance partner, Orbit, sharing her knowledge of the upcoming Alberta vehicle insurance changes. We will also have Jennifer Hope and Amanda Shaw from the ARTA office to present on ARTA Perks and Membership Advantages and virtual care options. Brunch will be at 10:30 am with the program to follow.
If you are receiving this email at a school address, we would appreciate you sending us your home email and phone number so that we don’t lose contact with you when that changes.
If you know someone who is retiring, please check with them to make sure they have made contact with us. Also, please reach out to those that may not be aware of us. A reminder that we welcome all education staff including support staff. We also welcome others with public pensions that have joined ARTA.
Our luncheon on June 1, 2026 had 64 people in attendance. Despite the blustery weather 12 people participated in the ARTA sponsored walk and those in attendance donated to the Rimbey Food Bank. Following is a thank you from Rimbey. You can also see a picture of the Food Bank staff appreciating our donation in the Photo Gallery of our website at www.artabranches.net/wcrta/ . This event brought to an end our year long celebration of the 50th anniversary of our branch.
The Rimbey Food Bank would like to thank the Wolf Creek Retired Teachers’ Association for the donation of $265 cash and 116 pounds of food products, gathered at their annual spring walk and luncheon on Monday, June 1, 2026.
Reminder of the July 31, 2026 deadline for ARTA scholarship applications. Early October will bring the ARTA AGM. At this meeting there will be elections for executive positions and various committees. We have had many Wolf Creek members, both past and present, get involved in these interesting volunteer positions serving their fellow retirees. Check out the ARTA website, www.arta.net , for information about these positions. ARTA has been very busy of late advocating to government on our behalf on education, healthcare and seniors issues. Check out more on the website.
In addition to our upcoming event on August 24, 2026, save Monday, November 30, 2026 on your calendars for our always popular Christmas Luncheon.
Hope everyone is surviving monsoon season and looking forward to some actual summer weather.
