The Lost City of Z by David Grann

I heartily recommend a book given to me at Christmas. The Lost City of Z by David Grann. Very well written and meticulously researched. Very much an eye-opener of the Amazon jungle. One of the last places on Earth explored at a time when exploration was all the rage. The main character, Percy Fawcett, develops an obsession with searching for the fabled Incan City. Only his tremendous strength of will and remarkable constitution carries him forward. Over a span of 20 years, he makes several forays into one of the most inhospitable places on the planet. Without spoiling the narrative, I would suggest that only reading Grann’s historical nonfiction account would do this tale justice. Don’t start the story unless you have time.
