FRTA Membership

FRTA membership is free to retiring teachers in the first year of their retirement. Membership keeps communication lines open with colleagues and with our provincial counterparts who advocate for us. Of significance are the excellent benefits for group health care through ARTA sponsored extended health care. Members are invited to the variety of activities throughout the year, and are kept informed of issues that may affect them as retired educators.

Voting members are retired teachers who receive a pension from the Alberta Teachers’ Retirement Fund. We have no geographic boundaries.

Associate members include retired school employees other than teachers, retired teachers from other provinces, and the spouse or partner of a deceased member.

Membership Fee for 2020-2021 is $20 for both a member and an associate member. Free for first year retirees, and free for lifetime members aged 85+. An associate member is anyone who has purchased a membership in FRTA, but does not have professional certification as a teacher.

NOTE: Photos may be taken at FRTA events and may be published in FRTA media. If this is an issue for you, please discuss your concern with the photographer at the event.
