On how they approach planning for staying at home so the audience and start to recognize areas in which they can be proactive and plan ahead.

Aging in Place: My Home
Think about the home you live in now. Do you plan to live there with you are 70? 80? 90?
What changes can you make to your home to support your needs?

2:00 – 3:00 p.m. – Catherine Eckersley
Explains the role of an OT in aging-in-place, when to involve one, and what a typical aging- in-place home assessment involves.
From discussing your goals for the future, assessing your current physical and cognitive abilities, analyzing the home environment and any concerns with daily activities, to providing recommendations for equipment, therapies/services, and home modifications/renovations.
This one-hour presentation will address all your questions about how occupational therapy can improve your independence, comfort and safety with aging-in-place.
