*** Thursday, October 24 In Body Sessions at St. Leonard’s On the Hill Church (4241 – 44 St, Red Deer).   There have been some changes to the previous program so I am attaching the memo from the presenter.

“As part of the ARTA services offered to members, we offer biometric testing through our Inbody machine, which includes height, weight, body mass index, skeletal muscle mass, and lean body mass. This gives members an idea of their overall body composition, and how it can be improved or maintained. We also measure blood pressure, as high blood pressure often has no symptoms and can indicate a need for diet and lifestyle changes.   Additionally, we offer finger-stick Hemoglobin A1C testing.  This is a very easy procedure that only requires a few drops of blood from the finger to test the average blood glucose of a person over 128 days. This can tell us if a person’s blood sugar is on average to high, leading to screenings for diabetes or pre-diabetes. These services are offered in conjunction with community resources and general lifestyle and health management consultation for the allotted time with the RN. Topics may include physical activity, medication questions, smoking cessation, proper goal setting, or any other relevant health topic.”

Also on October 24, there will be a presentation by Primary Care Network (an overview of available programs), a session on yoga, and an art session.   Please contact Marie at caretiredteachers@gmail.com to register.  There is no charge to CARTA members and their significant others for this event.

*** Is hearing an issue for you or a family member?  Staff from Hearing Life will provide a presentation to us (lunch and learn) if we have enough interest.  Please contact us at caretiredteachers@gmail.com if this is of interest to you or a loved one.  HearingLife is a Partner and Supporter of ARTA.  We need more people to take part in this valuable presentation.
