CARTA Memo for November 2019
*** December 5: Christmas Lunch. Doors open at 11:30 and turkey dinner at 12 noon. This event will also be held at the Calder School at Sunnybrook Farm (2879 Botterill Crescent). We will have a full turkey dinner for $20.00 / person. Because space is at a premium you must book ahead as we are limited to 58 seats. We will be recognizing our CARTA Distinguished Volunteers for 2019. Please let us know through email at caretiredteachers@gmail.com if you wish to attend.
*** The CARTA Wellness Day, held on Thursday, October 24 was a great day. So much great practical information was presented. Special thank you to the following:
Julie from the Primary Care Network in Red Deer who gave an excellent presentation on all the programs through PCN,
Suzanne Blackwell from the Breathing Room for the excellent workout with Chair Yoga. She awakened our eight main joints in the body,
Audrey Gauthier who gave an excellent overview of immunizations which adults should consider. Being proactive is essential!
Jeanette Van Hyfte for many techniques using watercolour in our paintings and the opportunity to make a picture.
Rachel from ARTA ASEBP for the individual information on Biometrics.
Marie Mann and Margaret Roome for keeping us organized all day
and ARTA for its generous support of our programs.
And especially everyone who attended, brought pot luck items for the day, and took part in the presentations. We will probably have another session in the spring as many of the sessions were quite full. *** Congratulations to our CARTA artists who took part in the Central Alberta Cultural Days on September 28: Wayne Gauthier, Margaret Roome, and Beryl Webster. Special thank you to Margaret Roome who represented CARTA at all the preparation meetings with Alberta Culture.
*** Thank you to the following who represented CARTA so well at the ARTA AGM: Jim Isbister, Irv Sandulak, Jeanette Van Hyfte, and Elaine Willette-Larsen. Congratulations to Jeanette Van Hyfte who was elected to the ARTA Wellness Committee and Elaine Willett-Larsen who was elected to the ARTA Governance Committee.

The new web site will feature a “Writer of the Month.” Darlene Schuya and Audrey Gauthier are our current featured writers on the website. Join Inkblots and share your writing. If you are selected as Writer of the Month, you will be asked to sign a waiver stating that you grant CARTA the right to publish your selection. We also have articles on the website regarding travel experiences written by Lyle Meeres and Jock MacKenzie.
