We hope that everyone is doing well and enjoying the return to more normal activities with the precautions that are appropriate for each of us.<\/p>\n

Wolf Creek Branch Happenings<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As a branch, we are looking forward to resuming our normal activities.\u00a0 We will be hosting a luncheon meeting around the end of June.\u00a0 Watch for the date and details to come in May.\u00a0 We will be looking forward to playing catch up over the next couple of meetings with recognizing new retirees, life members, and volunteers due to the last two years.<\/p>\n

We are thankful to ARTA for the generous branch subsidy grant that we received based on our membership.\u00a0 This will assist with branch expenses for our activities.\u00a0 In addition to this grant, the number of delegates for our branch at the ARTA annual meeting is also determined by our membership numbers.<\/p>\n

Thank you to those that have responded to the invitation in January to renew your branch memberships.\u00a0 Through this membership drive, we have also identified three more members that we can honour with life memberships.\u00a0 A reminder that branch memberships are a nominal $5 a year or for savings, $20 for five years.\u00a0 Life memberships are for those reaching 85 years of age.\u00a0 Complimentary memberships are given to new retirees in their first year of retirement.<\/p>\n

If you would still like to renew your WCRTA membership use the renewal form on the WCRTA website<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 Then follow up by mailing your cheque made payable to\u00a0WCRTA<\/strong> to the address on the form – Wolf Creek Retired Teachers’ Association (WCRTA)\u00a0 4417 43St.\u00a0 Ponoka AB T4J 1B9.<\/p>\n

Alternatively, you can print off the membership form in the attachment above and mail it with your membership cheque.<\/p>\n

ARTA News<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The ARTA office is reopening this spring.\u00a0 In April ARTA staff will begin to return to the office from working from home.\u00a0 In-person appointments will be resuming by appointment in May.\u00a0 Helpful ARTA information can be found on the ARTA website, in the news&views<\/em> magazine, or in ARTAFacts<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0ARTA Wellness Challenge\u00a0<\/strong>has started.\u00a0 It runs from April 1st to June 30th.\u00a0 The change this year is that you can record\u00a0either steps or minutes<\/strong>.\u00a0 Fitness level does not matter, just keep track of your activities and at the end of June pick out your best 30 days and submit the total.\u00a0 Look for information in the latest News & Views magazine on pages 36-38 or at\u00a0 arta.net\/wellness-challenge<\/strong><\/a>. \u00a0Let me know if you are participating so that I have a list of participants for our branch.<\/p>\n

The deadline for the tenth annual\u00a0ARTA<\/strong>\u00a0Photo Contest\u00a0<\/strong>is May 31, 2022.\u00a0 Visit arta.net\/photo-contest<\/strong><\/a> for contest rules and entry form.\u00a0 Also, see page 8 in the most recent news&views<\/em> magazine.<\/p>\n

Watch soon for information on the 2022 ARTA Writing Contest<\/strong>.\u00a0 The deadline for entries will be Nov. 18, 2022.<\/p>\n

The 2022 ARTA Scholarship<\/strong> season is around the corner.\u00a0 The deadline is July 31, 2022.\u00a0 These scholarships are available to students related to ARTA members.\u00a0 Review the criteria and apply online at my.reviewr.com\/site\/ARTA\/Scholarships<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 See page 49 of the most recent news&views<\/em> magazine.<\/p>\n

The twice-delayed ARTCF Charity Golf Classic is happening at the Ponoka Golf Club on June 16, 2022.<\/p>\n

At the May ARTA Board of Directors meeting there will be an election for a member on the ARTA Health Benefits Trust.\u00a0 If this is something that may be of interest to you please let me know and I will forward the nominations package to you.<\/p>\n
